The distribution of Am between selected solid and liquid phases has been studied using initial {sup 241}Am solutions with a molarity smaller than 1 {times} 10{sup {minus}11}. The synthetic and natural groundwaters used have pH values in the 7--8 range and a total alkalinity of approximately 1 mN which is mainly due to bicarbonate.
