Diffractive hadronic production of D mesons

Description: A search for charmed D mesons was made with a 217 GeV ..pi../sup -/ beam on a liquid hydrogen target. The Chicago Cyclotron Spectrometer at Fermilab was used to analyze the hadronic decay of a D meson in coincidence with a prompt muon and a recoil proton. A total of 50 +- 12 D/sup + -/ events were observed with equal numbers in the two channels K/sup + -/..pi../sup - +/..pi../sup - +/. Some of the cuts selected diffractive events. Experimental search for W/Z pairs and Higgs bosons at very high energy hadron-hadron colliders

Description: We study, from an experimental point of view, the main ways to detect standard high mass Higgs bosons (from 300 GeV up to about 1 TeV) when they decay into W- and Z-pairs at the SSC. We also consider the corresponding W- and Z/sup 0/-pair continuum which may itself provide interesting physics, and we pay some attention to the case of an intermediate mass charged Higgs decaying into tau..nu../sub tau/ (m/sub H+-/ = 300 GeV). Detecting W/Z pairs and Higgs at high energy pp colliders: Main experimental issues
