Search for W-prime Boson Resonances Decaying to a Top Quark and a Bottom Quark

Description: We search for the production of a heavy W{prime} gauge boson that decays to third generation quarks in 0.9 fb{sup -1} of p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV, collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We find no significant excess in the final-state invariant mass distribution and set upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction. For a left-handed W{prime} boson with SM couplings, we set a lower mass limit of 731 GeV. For right-handed W{p… more

Search for sneutrino particles in e + mu final states in p anti-p collisions at s**(1/2) = 1.96-TeV

Description: We report a search for R-parity violating production and decay of sneutrino particles in the e{mu} final state with 1.04 {+-} 0.06 fb{sup -1} of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in 2002-2006. Good agreement between the data and the standard model prediction is observed. With no evidence for new physics, we set limits on the R-parity violating couplings {lambda}'{sub 311} and {lambda}{sub 312} as a function of sneutrino mass.

The probability to measure a cross section at this value or higher in the absence of signal is 0.035%, corresponding to a 3.4 standard deviation significance. We use the cross section measurement … more

Search for a Higgs boson produced in association with a Z boson in p anti-p collisions

Description: We describe a search for the standard model Higgs boson with a mass of 105 GeV/c{sup 2} to 145 GeV/c{sup 2} in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 450 pb{sup -1} collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p{bar p} collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The Higgs boson is required to be produced in association with a Z boson, and the Z boson is required to decay to either electrons or muons with the Higgs boson decaying to a b{bar b} pair. The d… more

Measurement of the top quark mass in the lepton+jets final state with the matrix element method

Description: We present a measurement of the top quark mass with the Matrix Element method in the lepton+jets final state. As the energy scale for calorimeter jets represents the dominant source of systematic uncertainty, the Matrix Element likelihood is extended by an additional parameter, which is defined as a global multiplicative factor applied to the standard energy scale. The top quark mass is obtained from a fit that yields the combined statistical and systematic jet energy scale uncertainty.

Measurement of the muon charge asymmetry from W boson decays

Description: We present a measurement of the muon charge asymmetry from W boson decays using 0.3 fb{sup -1} of data collected at {radical}s = 1.96 GeV between 2002 and 2004 with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p{bar p} Collider. We compare our findings with expectations from next-to-leading-order calculations performed using the CTEQ6.1M and MRST04 NLO parton distribution functions. Our findings can be used to constrain future parton distribution function fits.

Search for stopped gluinos from p-anti-p collisions at s**(1/2) = 1.96-TeV

Description: Long-lived, heavy particles are predicted in a number of models beyond the standard model of particle physics. We present the first direct search for such particles' decays, occurring up to 100 h after their production and not synchronized with an accelerator bunch crossing. We apply the analysis to the gluino ({tilde g}), predicted in split supersymmetry, which after hadronization can become charged and lose enough momentum through ionization to come to rest in dense particle detectors. Measurement of the top quark mass in the dilepton channel

Description: We present a measurement of the top quark mass in the dilepton channel based on approximately 370 pb{sup -1} of data collected by the D0 experiment during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We employ two different methods to extract the top quark mass. We show that both methods yield consistent results using ensemble tests of events generated with the D0 Monte Carlo simulation. We combine the results from the two methods to obtain a top quark mass m{sub t} = 178.1 {+-} 8.2 GeV. The stati… more

Search for techniparticles in e+jets events at D0

Measurement of the CP-violation parameter of B0 mixing and decay with p anti-p ---> mu mu X data

Description: The authors measure the dimuon charge asymmetry A in p{bar p} collisions at a center of mass energy {radical}s 1960 GeV. The data was recorded with the D0 detector and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of approximately 1.0 fb{sup -1}. Assuming that the asymmetry A is due to asymmetric B{sup 0} {leftrightarrow} {bar B}{sup 0} mixing and decay, they extract the CP-violation parameter of B{sup 0} mixing and decay: R({epsilon}{sub B{sup 0}}/1) + |{epsilon}{sub B{sup 0}}|{sup 2} = A{sub B{sup … more
