Dissociative electron attachment to the H2O molecule II: nucleardynamics on coupled electronic surfaces within the local complexpotential model

DNA repair decline during mouse spermiogenesis results in the accumulation of heritable DNA damage

Description: The post-meiotic phase of mouse spermatogenesis (spermiogenesis) is very sensitive to the genomic effects of environmental mutagens because as male germ cells form mature sperm they progressively lose the ability to repair DNA damage. On prediction of wind-borne plumes with simple models of turbulenttransport

Description: The dispersion of pollutants from the ground by turbulent winds is difficult to model in general. Effects of vibrational motion on core-level spectra of prototype organic molecules

Description: A computational approach is presented for prediction and interpretation of core-level spectra of complex molecules. Applications are presented for several isolated organic molecules, sampling a range of chemical bonding and structural motifs. Comparison with gas phase measurements indicate that spectral lineshapes are accurately reproduced both above and below the ionization potential, without resort to ad hoc broadening. Synthesis and magnetic properties of cerium macrocyclic complexeswith tmtaaH2, tetramethyldibenzotetraaza[14]-annulene

Description: The complexes [Ce(tmtaa)2], [Ce(tmtaa)(tmtaaH)]and[Ce2(tmtaa)3(thf)2]are obtained from Ce[N(SiMe3)2]3 and tmtaaH2, themacrocyclic ligand 6,8,15,17-tetramethyldibenzotetraaza[14]-annulene,depending on the stoichiometry, solvent and temperature. The crystalstructure of Ce(tmtaa)2 is isostructural with Zr(tmtaa)2, howevermagnetic susceptibility measurements in the range 5-300 K show thatCe(tmtaa)2 is not diamagnetic, but is a temperature-independentparamagnet (TIP), similar to Ce(cot)2, cerocene.

Description: We present the results of measurements of the angular distribution of fission fragments produced by irradiation of Au{sup 197} and Bi{sup 209} with various heavy ions. Object Classification at the Nearby Supernova Factory

Description: We present the results of applying new object classification techniques to the supernova search of the Nearby Supernova Factory. In comparison to simple threshold cuts, more sophisticated methods such as boosted decision trees, random forests, and support vector machines provide dramatically better object discrimination: we reduced the number of nonsupernova candidates by a factor of 10 while increasing our supernova identification efficiency. Chiral perturbation theory with tensor sources

Description: We construct the most general chirally-invariant Lagrangian for mesons in the presence of external sources coupled to the tensor current \bar psi sigma_mu nu psi. In order to have only even terms in the chiral expansion, we consider the new source of O(p2). With this choice, we build the even-parity effective Lagrangian up to the p6-order (NLO).
