New Physics at the LHC: A Les Houches Report. Physics at Tev Colliders 2007 - New Physics Working Group

Description: We present a collection of signatures for physics beyond the standard model that need to be explored at the LHC. The signatures are organized according to the experimental objects that appear in the final state, and in particular the number of high p{sub T} leptons. Our report, which includes brief experimental and theoretical reviews as well as original results, summarizes the activities of the 'New Physics' working group for the 'Physics at TeV Colliders' workshop (Les Houches, France, 11-29 … more

A Les Houches Interface for BSM Generators

Description: We propose to combine and slightly extend two existing 'Les Houches Accords' to provide a simple generic interface between beyond-the-standard-model parton-level and event-level generators. All relevant information--particle content, quantum numbers of new states, masses, cross sections, parton-level events, etc.--is collected in one single file, which adheres to the Les Houches Event File (LHEF) standard.

A Standard format for Les Houches event files

Description: A standard file format is proposed to store process and event information, primarily output from parton-level event generators for further use by general-purpose ones. The information content is identical with what was already defined by the Les Houches Accord five years ago, but then in terms of Fortran commonblocks. This information is embedded in a minimal XML-style structure, for clarity and to simplify parsing.

Supersymmetry Parameter Analysis: SPA Convention and Project

Description: High-precision analyses of supersymmetry parameters aim at reconstructing the fundamental supersymmetric theory and its breaking mechanism. A well defined theoretical framework is needed when higher-order corrections are included. We propose such a scheme, Supersymmetry Parameter Analysis SPA, based on a consistent set of conventions and input parameters. A repository for computer programs is provided which connect parameters in different schemes and relate the Lagrangian parameters to physical… more

Impact of $\tau$ polarization on the study of the MSSM charged Higgs bosons in top quark decays at the ILC

Description: The process of top quark pair production at the ILC with subsequent decays of one of the top quarks to a charged Higgs boson and b-quark is considered. The charged Higgs decays to tau leptons whose polarization is the opposite to those coming from W bosons. This difference is reflected in the energy distributions of the tau decay products in the top quark rest frame, which can be reconstructed at the ILC using the recoil mass technique. We present an analysis including spin correlations, backgr… more

Coherent Production of Charged Particles on Nuclei by 400-GeV/c Protons

Description: Topological cross sections {delta}{sub coh}{sup (n)} (n = 1,3,5 and 7) of coherent diffractive dissociation of 400 Gev/c protons on nuclei of photoemulsion elements have been measured. Topological cross sections increase in the energy range from 20 to 400 Gev/c. This growth is the most noticeable for multiprong topologies. The total cross section of diffractive coherent production also increases from 8 to 25 mb/nucleus in this energy range. The increasing of the average multiplicity of charged … more

Multiplicity of Charged Secondaries in Interactions of Protons in an Emulsion at 400-GeV/c

Description: The preliminary results on multiplicities of charged secondaries in proton-nucleus interactions at 400 Gev/c are presented. Multiplicity of produced particles is consistent in the first approximation with the KNO scaling hypothesis for hadron-nucleus interactions. The relations between different moments of multiplicity distribution in proton-nucleons interactions at high energies are discussed too.

Coherent Production of Particles by Protons at 200-GeV/c on Emulsion Nuclei

Description: The coherent diffraction production process is characterized by a very narrow angular distribution of secondary particles that is caused by a small 4-momentum transferred to the nuclei. Besides, they have neither excitation of nuclei, nor disintegration. The quantum numbers of the coherently produced system are the same as those of the incident particle. For proton coherent interactions the number of charged particles must be odd. In this work are presented the data about a cross section for pr… more

INTERACTIONS OF 200-GeV/c PROTONS WITH EMULSION NUCLEI, CHARGED PARTICLE MULTIPLICITIES

Description: The experimental data on the multiplicity distributions for various kinds of secondaries produced in the proton-nucleus interactions in emulsion at 200 GeV/c and the correlations between them are presented and discussed. All the characteristics of heavy prongs (mean values <n{sub b}>, <n{sub g}>, <N{sub h}>, their distributions and correlations) are independent (or have a very weak dependence) on the collisions energy in the range 20-200 GeV/c. The data contradict to the casca… more

The Multiplicity in Fragmentation and Pionisation Regions in p p Interactions at 200-GeV/c

Description: Two BR-2 emulsion stacks 20cm x 10cm x 100 x 0,06 cm in size were irradiated by 200 Gev/c protons at the NAL accelerator in Batavia (US). The scanning along the track was performed. They observed 9339 inelastic interactions on the track length of 3303 m of primary protons.

Proton - Nucleus Interactions at 200-GeV/c

Description: The investigation of interactions of hadrons with the nucleus in recent time became very important, and there is a hope that it can give the information about the systems produced in this process (lifetime, cross sections etc.) The nuclear photoemulsions are a good detector at the investigation of hadron-nucleus interactions due to a high spatial resolution and a possibility of detection of particles nearly at all energies that enables to study the characteristics of both fast and slow particle… more
