Drawdown behavior of gravity drainage wells

Description: An analytical solution for drawdown in gravity drainage wells is developed. The free-surface flow is viewed as incompressible, and anisotropy effects are included. The well is a line source well, and the reservoir is infinitely large. The model is valid for small drawdowns. The uniform wellbore potential inner boundary condition is modelled using the proper Green`s function. Behaviors of Crack-Like Reservoirs by Means of Fracturing at Nigorikawa and Kakkonda Geothermal Fields

Description: A basic concept of the geothermal reservoir as a set of cracks is first presented. Extensions of subsurface cracks during well stimulation treatments at Nigorikawa(Mori) and closure operations of production well-head valves at Kakkonda are analysed and their behaviors are demonstrated based on results of long-distance AE Measurements.

Fractal analysis of pressure transients in the Geysers Geothermal Field

A fast method for evaluating a simplified hot dry rock heat flow problem

Description: I present optimizations to the computation of Elsworth's single zone, hot dry rock thermal recovery model. These enhancements lead to as much as a 6-fold increase in computational speed. The greatest time savings derive from an efficient evaluation of the model's thermal response due to a step in heat flux, which is required for solution of the more general problem via Duhamel's Principle. Tracer Stability and Chemical Changes in an Injected Geothermal Fluid During Injection-Backflow Testing at the East Mesa Geothermal Field

Description: The stabilities of several tracers were tested under geothermal conditions while injection-backflow tests were conducted at East Mesa. Chemical tracer test at the Dixie Valley geothermal field, Nevada. Geothermal Reservoir Technology research program

Description: In the injection test described, chemical tracers established the fluid flow between one injection well and one production well. Measured tracer concentrations, calculated flow rates, sampling schedules, and the daily events of the tracer test are documented. This experiment was designed to test the application of organic tracers, to further refine the predictive capability of the reservoir model, and to improve the effectiveness of Oxbow`s injection strategy.

Preliminary assessment of halogenated alkanes as vapor-phase tracers

Description: New tracers are needed to evaluate the efficiency of injection strategies in vapor-dominated environments. One group of compounds that seems to meet the requirements for vapor-phase tracing are the halogenated alkanes (HCFCs).
