National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Lawton Quadrangle, Oklahoma and Texas

Description: From purpose and scope: The Lawton Quadrangle, Oklahoma and Texas (Fig. 1), was evaluated to a depth of 1500 m (5,000 ft) to identify geologic environments and delineate areas that exhibit characteristics favorable for uranium deposits. Determination of uranium favorability was based on the similarity of geologic characteristics to the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) recognition criteria described in Mickle and Mathews (eds., 1978).

Evaluation of Uranium Potential in Selected Pennsylvanian and Permian Units and Igneous Rocks in Southwestern and Southern Oklahoma: Final Report

Description: Introduction: The areas of study include parts of the Wichita uplift, Arbuckle uplift, Hunton-Pauls Valley uplift, Central Oklahoma platform, Muenster-Waurika arch, and Anadarko basin (Fig. 1.1-1). Rocks examined include the Precambrian granite of the Arbuckle uplift, Cambrian igneous rocks of the Wichita uplift, and Pennsylvanian-Permian sedimentary rocks derived in large part from those two uplifts and, to a lesser extent, from the Ouachita system.

Oral History Interview with Allen Stafford, March 12, 1999

Description: Interview with Allen Stafford, a Texas National Guard WWII veteran from Kiowa County, Oklahoma, who served with the 124th Cavalry Regiment. Stafford discusses his early life, working in Texas oil fields, enlisting and training, deployment to the China-Burma-India Theater and reorganization as an infantry unit, combat operations with the Japanese around the Burma Road, and returning to the United States.
