A Report on the Kinematics of High Energy Electron Scattering

Description: "A convenient summary is given of useful formulas on the kinematics of high energy electron scattering together with a derivation of the relevant formulas for transforming from the center of mass to the laboratory system such parameters as scattering cross sections. Spatially confined protein assembly in hierarchical mesoporous metal-organic framework

Description: Article discusses how the immobilization of biomolecules into porous materials could lead to significantly enhanced performance in terms of stability towards harsh reaction conditions and easier separation for their reuse. To gain insights into the spatial arrangement of biomolecules within the nanopores, the authors used in situ small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) to probe deuterated green fluorescent protein (d-GFP) entrapped in a mesoporous MOF.

The Low Energy Photodisintegration of 3H and 3He and Neutron-Deuteron Scattering

Description: The cross sections for electric dipole photodisintegration of H/sup 3/ and He/sup 3/ at low energies are expressed in terms of the effective range parameters of the doublet n-d scattering matrix. Agreement with the experimental results is possible for either set of n-d scattering lengths.

Analytic Approach for the Pion-Proton Scattering Phase Shifts

Inelastic Cross Sections and [ ] For Some Fissionable Isotopes

Description: The transmissions of neutrons through spherical shells of normal uranium, oralloy, and Pu239 are reported. One group of measurements was made using a pure fission neutron source produced by thermal neutrons. The other group of measurements was made using monoenergetic neutrons. From both groups of measurements, the inelastic scattering cross sections have been determined according to methods developed in Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory Report LA-1429 (Jaunary 1955).

Electron-Atom Scattering and Nucleon-Nucleus Scattering -- An Analogy

Description: An analogy is drawn between low-energy nucleon-nucleus scattering and low-energy electron-atom scattering. Proper scaling indicates that the Ramsauer resonances ln electron scattering are analogous to the "size'' resonances of nucleon scattering. Total cross sections, angular distributions, and spin polarizations are calculated. An imaginary potential is introduced, and its consequences for direct electron-atom interactions are discussed.

Effect of Long-Range Interactions on Order

Description: Harrison and Paskin (HP) have calculated the ordering energy of β-CuZn using recent theoretical techniques of treating electron screening and Mott's polar model of an alloy. Good agreement is obtained between the calculated total energy of the order-disorder transformation and specific heat measurements. Interactions of High Energy Antiprotons in Hydrogen

Description: In the fall of 1961 an extensive program of investigation of high energy p-p interactions was begun at the Brookhaven AGS. The BNL 20" liquid hydrogen bubble chamber and an electrostatically separated beam were used to obtain a total (to date) of 300,000 exposure with about 15 antiprotons per pulse. Study of Low Frequency Molecular Motions in HF, KHF2, KH2F3 and NaH2F3

Description: The spectra of KHF2, KH2F3, NaH2F3, liquid and solid HF were measured between 1200 and 30 cm-1 by the inelastic scattering of "cold neutrons" (0.005e.v.). The spectrum of KHF2 is in agreement with previous infrared measurements and shows a peak at 147 mV corresponding to a deformation frequency v2 of the F-H-F group and a broad peak at 13 mV due to a libration of this group.
