Finline Diode Six-Port: Fundamentals and Design Information

Description: Abstract: The preliminary design and testing of a planar circuit six-port with diode detectors is described. The planar circuit medium was chosen to be finline, and all preliminary work was done in WR-42 waveguide (18-26.5 GHz). The finline substrate was alumina, and initially commercial beam-lead diodes were bonded to the finline metalization. The goal is to design an integrated circuit which could be fabricated on one chip (with diode detectors) and used as part of a six port network analyzer… more

A Review of Supercritical Fluid Extraction

Description: Forward: The purpose of this report is to summarize the results obtained from a brief investigation of supercritical fluid extraction principles and applications. This study was one portion of a project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy, contract nuriber DE-AI01076PR06010, in response to a preliminary proposal submitted by the authors. This report sometimes uses company trade naries to identify processes and patent holders. This usage implies no endorsement by HBS… more

Nomograms for Obtaining the Compound Composition of Hydrated Limes from the Oxide Analysis

Description: Report with two nomograms presented for rapidly obtaining the compound composition of hydrated limes from the oxide analysis. The general nomogram can be applied to any commercial hydrated lime and gives values accurate to within 0.3 percent while the special nomogram is applicable only to regularly hydrated and highly hydrated dolomitic limes and is accurate to within 0.1 percent.

Provisional Thermodynamic Functions for Para-Hydrogen

Description: The need for thermodynamic functions of para hydrogen, especially in compressed liquid and dense fluid states, prompts the tabulation of these provisional properties, computed by approximate methods utilizing the new PVT data of these reports. Computation and preparation of the tables is discussed under the following: Approximate Computational Methods; Correlation Methods; Discussion of Errors; and Tables of Functions.

NBS Viscometer Calibrating Liquids and Capillary Tube Viscometers

Description: Report discussing measurements of viscosity made with relative viscometers. These instruments must be calibrated with liquids whose viscosities are known. NBS provides a series of 10 oils for this purpose. Their viscosities range from 0.02 to 450 poises and their temperature coefficients of viscosity range from 2.1 to 9.4 percent per degree C. The less viscous oils are more stable. Correction formulas for errors or conditions are presented.

On the Statistical Theory of Electromagnetic Waves in a Fluctuating Medium (II): Mathematical Basis of the Analogies to Quantum Field Theory

Description: Report discussing the relationship between quantum field theory and the the statistical theory of waves. Basic equations exist in the latter theory which correspond closely to the fundamental equations of the former theory; i.e., to the commutation relations and the Heisenberg equation of motion. A probability density function of waves is introduced here which corresponds to the probability amplitude function in quantum mechanics. The theory of the statistical Green's functions and their relati… more
