Report Submitted to the Trail Smelter Arbitral Tribunal

Description: From Forward: "The first part of this report discusses the details of the plant equipment and procedure. The second part of the report discusses in detail the relationship between between meteorological conditions in the valley and atmospheric diffusion processes. The third part gives the provisional operating regimes in force during the investigation, the amount of sulfur fixed and amount emitted to the atmosphere, and summary of data from the permanent recorders."

Hydrogeochemical and Stream Sediment Reconnaissance Basic Data for Sherman NTMS Quadrangle, Texas; Oklahoma

Description: Abstract: Results of a reconnaissance geochemical survey of the Sherman Quadrangle, Texas; Oklahoma are reported. Field and laboratory data are presented for 718 groundwater and 715 stream sediment samples. Statistical and areal distributions of uranium and possible uranium related variables are displayed. A generalized geologic map of the survey area is provided, and pertinent geologic factors which may be of significance in evaluating the potential for uranium mineralization are briefly discussed.

McDermitt 1° x 2° NTMS Area, Nevada: Data Report (Abbreviated)

Description: From abstract: This abbreviated data report presents results of ground water and stream/surface sediment reconnaissance in the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) McDermitt 1 x 2* quadrangle. Surface sediment samples were collected at 1337 sites, at a target sampling density of one site per 13 square kilometers (five square miles). Ground water samples were collected at 255 sites and surface water samples were collected at 41 sites. Neutron activation analysis (NAA) results are given for uranium and 16 other elements in sediments, and for uranium and 9 other elements in ground water and surface water. Mass spectrometry results are given for helium in ground water. Field measurements and observations are reported for each site. Analytical data and field measurements are presented in tables and maps.

Mesa NTMS 1° x 2° Quadrangle Area: Supplemental Data Report

Description: From abstract: This data report presents supplemental analytical results for stream sediments and ground water. The samples were collected as part of the SRL-NURE reconnaissance in the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) Mesa 10 x 2 quadrangle. Results are reported for 24 elements (Ag, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, K, Li, Mg, Mo, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Se, Sn, Sr, Th, W, Y, Zn, and extractable U) in sediments and 31 elements (Ag, Al, As, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Sc, Se, Si, Sr, Th, Ti, V, Y, Zn, and Zr) as well as pH, alkalinity, and conductivity in ground water. Field data and NAA data will be open-filed when they are available.

Preliminary Basic Data Release: Ground Water in Winston-Salem 1° x 2° NTMS Area, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee

Description: From abstract: This report presents preliminary results of stream sediment and ground water reconnaissance in the Greensboro National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) 1° x 2° quadrangle. Stream sediment samples were collected from small streams at 1240 sites for a nominal density of one site per 13 square kilometers (five square miles) in rural areas. Ground water samples were collected at 774 sites for a nominal density of one site per 25 square kilometers (ten square miles).

Reduction of the shimmy tendency of tail and nose-wheel landing gears by installation of specially designed tires

Description: Shimmy of tail and nose wheels may be eliminated by installation of dampers and use of large trail; however, this produces construction and operational disadvantages. It is more favorable to employ, instead of the customary tail-wheel tires, tires with lesser shimmy tendency. A description of the best possible form for these tires follows: furthermore, a few general concepts regarding the effects of the condition of the tire, of the type of rolling motion, and of the landing, are discussed.
