Description: The objective of this research program is to demonstrate the feasibility for the high volume low cost production of silane (SiH/sub 4/), as an intermediate for solar or semi-conductor grade silicon. The goal of the program is to demonstrate the feasibility for achieving a net production cost of less than $5.00 per kilogram of silane through the operation of a 10 pound/day scale pilot plant.
