[Beulah Harriss scrapbook]

Description: Scrapbook of photographs belonging to Beulah Harriss, a 1914 graduate of the University of Nebraska, who came to Denton to teach at the North Texas State Normal College. She was the first woman to be hired into the athletics department of the school, coaching women's basketball among other sports. Harriss also organized the first Denton Girl Scouts troop in 1919, founded the Green Jackets Club in 1926, and was one of 13 professors from North Texas State Teachers College who started the Denton County Teachers Federal Credit Union (DATCU) in 1936. The scrapbook contains 11 loose photos which have been scanned and ordered after the pages of the book. [Melissa Ybarra Scrapbook]

Description: Scrapbook containing photographs, newspaper articles, mementos, and various pieces of personal history detailing the life of Melissa Ybarra. Ybarra was an undergraduate student at the University of North Texas. She was involved as the President of the Hispanic Students in Higher Education (HSHE), formerly known as the Mexican American American Student Organization (MASO). The articles are in a loose chronological order delineating Melissa Ybarra at celebrations, in student organization at the University of North Texas, and graduation photographs.

Charles Dickens and his Jewish Characters

Description: Book compiled by Cumberland Clark of letters written between Charles Dickens and Eliza Davis concerning Dicken's use of Jewish characters in his works, including Oliver Twist. At the end is included a reprinting of a letter included by Davis with a Hebrew bible she presented to Dicken's as a gift.

My Philip Nolan Scrapbook

Description: Scrapbook created by Gustine Courson Weaver containing materials related to the life and history of Philip Nolan, for whom Nolan County, Texas was named. Nolan was an Irish immigrant to the Texas-Louisiana area and a prolific horse trader and freebooter during the period of Spanish rule in Texas before Texas became a republic. The scrapbook contains articles about Nolan, photographs and photo copies, correspondence created for obtaining research materials, as well as snippets about Weaver's own life.
