Man's Coat

Description: Man's coat of raccoon fur. Full length, with shawl collar. Two outer pockets trimmed with raccoon tails. Double-breasted center front opening with 8 round 1 1/2" leather covered buttons with loop closures. Long sleeves, with inner ribbed knit(?) cuffs. 51" from center back neckline to hem line. Upper lining of brown silk (?), and lower section lined with plaid wool. Inner pocket on left side. No labels in garment. Name inked inside inner pocket: "Ellison"

Coat

Description: Coat of vertical pieced tan mink fur with notched collar and wide, long sleeves. Three concealed hook-and-eyes down center front. Two slit pockets at front, lined in velvet. Below hip-length. Fully lined in taupe satin, with decorative stitching inside front and taupe leather facing on inside of opening. Retailer's label inside back at collar: "Koslow's / Fort Worth" Former owner's name embroidered inside right side: "Kitty Wilson".

Crocheted Cap

Description: Crocheted cap of brown cotton yarn styled as a pillbox. The hemispherical crown is flat at top and slopes to base. The hat has no brim and is unlined. Stuck through the sides of the crown are two brass hatpins formed as over-sized hairpins.

Dress

Description: Dress of off-white silk. Ankle-length dress with V neckline at front and back with piped edge and with long, lightly puffed sleeves supported by small pads. Hem and sleeves with fine rolled hems. At front is a wide, dropped, cross-over band at waist which repeats at back, the back forming a yoke into which the skirt gathers. Lapped zipper closure on left side. The entire garment has pleating inspired by the designs of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo,(May 11, 1871–May 3, 1949) Acquired by the donor at the Fort Worth, Texas, branch of Neiman Marcus.

Hat

Description: Hat of navy blue wool felt. Styled as a calotte (also spelled "calot"), the hat is formed as a low crown of navy blue wool felt. At the back of the crown are nine staggered tucks running from the lower edge of crown to top, and then being tucked over and into a cut-out from 9 uneven tucks which radiate downward from the top of the crown towards the front of the hat. The hat is unlined, with an inner black/navy blue grosgrain ribbon hatband around inside base of crown. A stitched mark on hatband indicates front of hat. Designer's label is sewn to inner hatband: "Hattie Carnegie / Casual" Retailer's label is sewn to inner hatband: "Washer Bros / Fort Worth"

Printed with an ornate Art Deco pattern of vertical rows of small dots with minor scalloping (colors of grey); ornate border print with colors of gold, red, lavender, and blue. Trimmed at edges with gold thread. A) Jacket. Styled with standing/Mandarin collar with center front opening with seven hook & eyes closures. Curved hemline. Padded shoulders. Long, semi-full fitted sleeves with uneven sleeve edge. Slightly curved hemline with uneven front. Unlined.
