Trilogy

Description: Recording of Otto Laske's Trilogy. This work was conceived in the spirit of a symphonic work in three movements (Erwachen, Echo des Himmels, and Ganymed) and spans the range from epic, to dramatic, to lyrical. All three movements take their semantic cue from the German poet Hoelderlin. The composer states that this work is a "kind of Summa" of their compositional life. Beyond (Electronic Symphony No. 1)

Description: Recording of Otto Laske's Beyond (Electronic Symphony No. 1). This composition is based on a large-scale symphonic design that includes three movements. It was composed as a "virtual choreography" that suggests concrete, physical choreography as its optimal medium of presentation. Compositionally, the piece is based on the use of algorithmic score synthesis as well as a feedback loop between a score generator and a sound synthesis language.

Neighborhood Ears

Description: Recording of Neil Rolnick's Neighborhood Ears. This is an electroacoustic work meant for laptop performance. The sound recordings used in this piece came from a DAT recorder that the composer used to capture the sounds of his neighborhood in New York City. The composer then moved these recordings to his laptop and used various programs to transform and edit them.

Description: Recording of John Gibson's Thrum. This is an electroacoustic piece that revolves around a wide range of sounds played on an acoustic guitar. Many of the guitar textures were created by a virtual player that read short guitar samples and created a pulsed repetitive texture.
