This work was conceived in the spirit of a symphonic work in three movements (Erwachen, Echo des Himmels, and Ganymed) and spans the range from epic, to dramatic, to lyrical. All three movements take their semantic cue from the German poet Hoelderlin. The composer states that this work is a "kind of Summa" of their compositional life. Beyond (Electronic Symphony No. 1)

Description: Recording of Otto Laske's Beyond (Electronic Symphony No. 1). This composition is based on a large-scale symphonic design that includes three movements. It was composed as a "virtual choreography" that suggests concrete, physical choreography as its optimal medium of presentation. Compositionally, the piece is based on the use of algorithmic score synthesis as well as a feedback loop between a score generator and a sound synthesis language.
