Relationship Between Heel Length in Ratio to Foot Length and Performance in the Vertical Jump

Description: Although the vertical jump has long been an accepted and valuable test of explosive strength and physical ability, the major factors affecting performance have not been isolated. This study was designed to investigate vertical-jump performance in relation to certain foot measurements. Two ratios comprised of heel/foot length and arch length/foot length were correlated to vertical-jump performance.

A Mechanical Analysis of the Forward Pass

Description: This study was to mechanically analyze the short forward pass and the long forward pass as used in football by a right-handed passer. The study will determine the basic mechanical movements utilized in executing each pass and present a comparative analysis of the two types of forward passes and illustrate the fundamental differences. It also will present a mechanical description of the forward pass that my be used by a quarterback for the purpose of improving his passing ability or by a coach as a teaching resource.

The Effect of Dietary Supplements of Protein and Wheat Germ Oil on Selected Physical Measurements of Junior High School Athletes

Description: This study was undertaken to determine the effect of protein and wheat germ oil supplements upon selected measures of junior high school boys. The measures selected were for weight, arm strength, speed and endurance, and urinalyses for urea nitrogen. Thirty-six ninth grade athletes at Memorial Junior High School in Alice, Texas, were used as subjects. The subjects were placed in three groups of twelve each with one group receiving the supplements and the other two groups serving as control groups.

Effects of Varied Intervals of Rest between Warm-Up and Performance on 440-Yard Dash Times

Description: A comparative study was made of the effects of varied time intervals of rest between warm-up and performance in the 440-yard dash by students in selected physical education classes at North Texas State University during the spring semester of 1967. This study was made to determine if the length of a rest interval after cessation of warm-up activity has any significant effect upon the subsequent performance in a 440-yard dash, and to determine if any length of rest interval facilitates performance in a 440-yard dash.
