The use of the semantic differential in a study of the effects of aspirational and dissociative reference group influence on consumer behavior

Description: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aspirational and dissociative reference group influence on consumer behavior. There are two ways in which behavior is influenced by reference groups. First, reference groups influence aspiration levels and therefore play a major role in producing satisfaction or frustration. Second, reference groups influence kinds of behavior, i.e., they establish approved patterns of behavior.

Cultural mistrust, occupational aspirations and achievement motivation of black students

Description: The purpose of this study were three-fold: First, this study examined occupation prestige ratings of African American adolescents using a modified version of the Hatt-North (1947) Occupation Prestige Scale. A second purpose investigated the effects of cultural mistrust on occupation prestige preferences, as well as aspirations and expectations. Finally, this study examined the effects of cultural mistrust and achievement motivation on the occupational aspirations of Black youth.

Trimethylsilylbromoketene and reactions of α-haloacid halides with diisopropylcarbodiimide

Description: Trimethylsilylbromoketene was synthesized by the tri-ethylamine dehydrohalogenation of trimthylsilylbromacetyl bromide or chloride. This ketene was found not to undergo cycloaddition reactions with activated olefins, such as cyclopentadiene, ethyl vinyl ether and dihydropyan.

Factors affecting the activity of cyclopropane synthetase in Lactobacillus plantarum

Description: This investigation concerned determining certain factors which affect the activity of cyclopropane synthetase in L. plantarum. In vitro experiments showed the enzme to be sensitive to ionic strength and subject to product inhibition by S-adenosylhomocysteine nucleusidase, which relieves this inhibition by degrading SAH to adenine and ribosylhomocysteine.
