Drag and rolling-moment effectiveness of trailing-edge spoilers at Mach numbers 2.2 and 5.0

Description: Report presenting free-flight measurements of the rolling effectiveness and drag of trailing-edge spoilers on low-aspect-ratio wings with both laminar and turbulent boundary layers at two different Mach numbers. The effect of a spoiler deflected from the surface of a wing is to cause boundary-layer separation upstream.

Effect of surface-active additives on physical properties of slurries of vapor-process magnesium

Description: The presence of 3 to 5 percent surface-active additive gave the lowest Brookfield apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity, and yield value that were obtained for slurry fuels containing approximately 50 percent vapor-process magnesium in JP-1 fuel. The slurries settled little and were easily remixed. Wind-tunnel investigation of the effect of clipping the tips of triangular wings of different thickness, camber, and aspect ratio - transonic bumb method

Description: Report presenting an investigation on a transonic bump to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of a series of triangular wings. Four basic triangular-wing plan forms with different aspect ratios, taper ratios, and combinations of tip clipping were tested over a range of Mach and Reynolds numbers. A Method for Determining the Composition of Methanol-Trimethyl Borate Mixtures

Description: A study of mixtures of pure methanol and trimethyl borate showed that the composition can be accurately obtained by a simple density determination.
