Description: The Brookhaven National Laboratory Archive and Dissemination System (BNLADS) is designed to deal with the record keeping associated with archiving and disseminating sequential files through a computer network. FLUID DYNAMICS MODEL FOR SALT-DOME EVOLUTION

Description: A fluid dynamics model for the evolution of salt domes and ridges is presented. The model assumes a rigid substrate, finite thickness of both strata with no slip and a rigid or free surface of overburden. Inertial terms in the Navier-Stokes equations are neglected due to the large viscosities considered and the initial perturbation is taken to be sinusoidal. Description: In recent years the use of quasi-Newton methods in optimization algorithms has inspired much of the research in an area of numerical linear algebra called updating matrix factorizations.
