Description: The purpose of this work is to determine a sound approach for curriculum improvement. In fulfilling that purpose, it is proposed: (1) to survey the various historical approaches to curriculum construction and to review briefly present curriculum practices; (2) to establish sound criteria of curriculum improvement based on the outside approach or the approach from without; (3) to apply these principles and criteria to a program of curriculum improvement.

The Public Lands of Texas and Their Use for the Benefit of Education

Description: When a new government is established, sovereign and national in its character, all of the land within its jurisdiction belongs to the people, not as individuals, but as a whole, except that which may have been theretofore acquired by individuals under such rights as may be respected by the new government. The land which has not been acquired by individuals is known as the public domain, and is subject to such disposition as the new government might determine. This thesis will review the public lands of Texas and how those lands have been used with a strong focus on the endowment of these lands to the public education system.

Description: "This research study shall be the advancement of the Negro within business and professional enterprises in Texas since 1900. The objective is to discover if and where the colored people have made progress. If progress has been made, it must be due to some prevailing influence, and if no progress has been made, there has evidently been some hindering cause. This research shall try to discover these factors and record the results as they affected the progress of these people. It is the intention of this writer to race the educational, economic, and social advancement of these people and to show in what fields of endeavor they have advanced and in which fields they have failed. A Study of Fees Charged in New Mexico High Schools, 1948-1949

Description: The purpose of this study reported in these pages was to ascertain how well the educational system as practiced in the public high schools of New Mexico was complying, 1948-1949, with the provision of the state Constitution, included in Article XII, which stipulates that "a uniform system of free public schools sufficient for the education of, and open to, all the children of school age in the state shall be established and maintained."
