The Pacific Salmon Treaty: The 1999 Agreement in Historical Perspective

On June 30, 1999, after many years of diplomatic struggle to resolve disagreements over resource conservation and harvest arrangements, the United States and Canada signed an agreement for the long-term conservation and equitable sharing of their salmon resources.
