Double Vision: The Art of Hung Liu

Description: An article, "Double Vision: The Art of Hung Liu," by Nancy Walkup Reynolds, for Trends, Spring of 1998. Reynolds is a Project Coordinator for the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, University of North Texas, and has written this article on contemporary artist Hung Liu. Aesthetics In Our Time

Description: An article, "Aesthetics In Our Time," by Kay Wilson for Trends, Spring of 1998. Wilson is a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas and has written this article on the technical terminology aesthetics and how it was used throughout history. As such, Alexander Baumgarten first used aesthetics in 1744 to mean "science of the beautiful." Aesthetics in today's culture is concerned with the questions in addition to the traditional question of beauty.

The Phenomenology of Near-Death Consciousness in Past-Life Regression Therapy: A Pilot Study

Description: Article reporting the results of a pilot study exploring similarities between the phenomenology of post-death awareness reported by regressed subjects and the phenomenology of near-death experiences (NDE), as far as the therapeutic modality normally accommodates post-death phenomena. Near-Death Experiences, Shamanism, and the Scientific Method

Description: Article discussing the overlap between shamanism and near-death experiences (NDEs) and suggesting that the study of shamanism would be helpful in more fully understanding this phenomena and beginning the development of an applied methodology. Although it may be difficult to verify subjective accounts of NDEs and shamanic journeys, from a clinical standpoint it may not be necessary to do so in order to develop a technique that passes the test of scientific scrutiny.
