Miller tries the small radio that weighs only 38 ounces and is battery powered. The radio compares in efficiency to the bulkier "walky talkies." It is designed for communication a half and three quarters of a mile apart but can reach ten miles if fully charged. Assistant Police Chief Jess Curry is shown a model that clips on to the lapel and New York Police officers are using them for foot patrol men in Central Park. The Cotton Bowl is used as a testing ground for the devices by Chief Miller and Deputy Police Chief Charles Batchelor.
