Description: Part I. Experimental Reactors: The effect of prompt-neutron lifetime upon reactor safety was investigated for the HRT. Homogeneous Reactor Project Quarterly Progress Report for Period Ending July 31, 1955

Description: Construction of the HRT reactor shield tank was completed, and the inside surfaces were painted. The roof structure for the tank is being assembled in preparation for an acceptance pressure test. Service piping and instrument lines are being installed in the central room area by ORNL craft forces. This work is approximately 50% complete. Fabrication of all temperature system components, except the blanket outer storage tanks, has been completed.

Ball Gown

Description: Ball gown of pink silk taffeta. The off-the-shoulder design has several layers of cream colored Chantilly lace around the neckline/shoulder edge. The dress itself is of bright fuchsia pink silk taffeta with ties over each arm. The bodice is seamed and fitted, with a left side seam zipper. The attached matching taffeta skirt is gathered and draped horizontally, and has several layers of Chantilly lace at hem. The skirt has three hoops under the lining.

Description: Calotte of maroon satin and black sequins. Hat styled with rounded low crown of maroon satin covered with scrolling lines of black sequins. The lower edge of the crown is shaped into irregular points and curves and is edged with black velvet. A short black veil encircles the hat and ties in back with two black velvet bows.

Pillbox Hat

Description: Large pillbox hat of off-white satin. 3 1/2" high cylindrical crown has a sunken, flattened top, encircled with a 1" wide band of off-white satin, with a flat bow at center back. Edges slightly "waved", being deeper over ears than front and back. The whole is overlaid with off-white net veil which secures to center of crown and extends about 2" below lower edge of hat. Lined in off-white satin, with off-white grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. No labels.
