Occupational Hazards at Blast-Furnace Plants and Accident Prevention: Based on Records of Accidents at Blast Furnaces in Pennsylvania in 1915

Description: From Preface: "The information presented in this report is the outcome of a detailed investigation made at the blast-furnace plants of Pennsylvania during the year 1915 by the inspectors of the department of labor and industry of that State and by F.H. Wilcox, metallurgical engineer of the Bureau of Mines. It is hoped that this detailed review of the causes, circumstances, and prevention of accidents will be of assistance to the executive officials of the plants and to the employees by making clear the responsibility for accidents, by emphasizing the probability of repetition of many accidents unless care is taken, and by demonstrating the practicability of safeguards, thus resulting in a lessened number of injuries and fatalities."
