Effects on the Snaking Oscillation of the Bell X-1 Airplane of a Trailing-Edge Bulb on the Rudder

Description: From Summary: "A rudder bulb was installed on the trailing edge of the rudder of the Bell X-1 airplane having the 8-percent-thick wing and 6-percent-thick tail. Several flights were made to investigate the effects of the bulb on the snaking oscillation at Mach numbers between 0.75 and 1.0. It was found that the rudder bulb had no noticeable effect on the snaking oscillation over the Mach number range tested."

Characterization of 200-UP-1 Aquifer Sediments and Results of Sorption-Desorption Tests Using Spiked Uncontaminated Groundwater

Description: Core characterization showed only 4 out of 13 core liner samples were intact samples and that the others were slough material. The intact samples showed typical Ringold Unit E characteristics such as being dominated by gravel and sand. Moderately reducing conditions are inferred in some core from borehole C4299. Ordered S-matrix approach to the topological expansion for baryons and mesons. [Ordered Hilbert space, Reggeon closed loops]

Description: A proposal is made for extending to processes involving baryons the ordered Hilbert space approach to the topological expansion. The proposal is based on a topological classification scheme for baryonic processes that is similar to one used previously for the lowest-order contributions, but is in terms of the minimum number of reggeon closed loops instead of handles.

Description of Ornl Pool Type Critical Facility

Description: The Pool Type Critical Facility (PTCF) is a low powered, highly eariched (90 to 95% U/sup 235/) ordinary light water cooled and moderated, beryllium oxide reflected assembly. It is generally similar to the present BSR at ORNL, the principal modification being that the grid plate is arranged to accommodate both ORR and BSR fuel elements. The PTCF is located in the northwest corner of the existing BSR pool. The 9 x 7 lattice provides 63 fuel, control rod, or reflector positions. (W.D.M.)

Direct conversion of light hydrocarbon gases to liquid fuel. Final report No. 33

Description: Amoco oil Company, has investigated the direct, non-catalytic conversion of light hydrocarbon gases to liquid fuels (particularly methanol) via partial oxidation.
