Description:
The existing switchyards at Western Area Power Administration's (WESTERN) Seminoe and Kortes facilities, located approximately 40 miles northeast of Rawlines, Carbon County, Wyoming, were constructed in 1939 and 1951, respectively. The circuit breakers at these facilities are beyond or approaching their service life and need to be replaced. In addition, the switchyards have poor access for maintenance and replacement of equipment, and their locations create potential for oil spills into the Nor…

Abstract: Uranium occurs in the North Park(?) formation of Pliocene(?) age in the Miller Hill area, about 25 miles south of Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyo. As much as 0. 5 percent uranium is contained in grab samples, but only about 1000 tons of rock are known to contain as much as 0. 03 percent uranium. Beds of brecciated, silicified limestone 3 to 10 feet thick contain the principal concentrations of uranium. Lesser concentrations are found in calcareous sandstone and quartzite. Uranophane, Ca(U…

Description:
From abstract: During the present study, all working were examined and representative rock and mineral samples from them were analyzed. Reconnaissance geochemical sampling of rocks, minerals, and stream sediments was conducted for the entire area.
Description:
From abstract: Uranium deposits and radioactivity anomalies have been found in the eastern half of the area underlain by the Browns Park formation in northwestern Colorado, south-central Wyoming, and northeastern Utah. The deposits are in eolian, lacustrine, and fluvial sandstones, tuffaceous sandstones, and limestones all of which were deposited on two converging pediments during Miocene time. At least one eastern and one western facies of lacustrine and fluvial sedimentary rocks are separated…

Report discussing an investigation of the geology of the Miller Hill area in Wyoming. This area's rocks were shown to contain varying amounts of uranium.
Description:
Report discussing the investigation of uranium minerals, which were discovered in the Poison Basin area, Carbon County, Wyoming, on October 15, 1953. Information regarding the geographic setting, geologic setting, stratigraphy of the area, uranium occurrences of the area, origin of the uranium, and significance of the area are included.
Description:
The following report provides results and studies that were made in the Rawlins quadrangle, Wyoming with the purpose of identifying the granitic rocks having higher normal concentrations of uranium, as possible sources of large, low grade uranium ore.
