Emergence of chironomidae in a newly impounded cooling reservoir

Description: L Lake, a once-through cooling reservoir on the Savannah River Plant in South Carolina, was created in late 1985. Biological sampling, initiated in January 1986, included monthly emergence trap sampling in littoral regions. Chironomids were the most abundant insects emerging from L Lake in the first three years of sampling (1986--1988).
