The Grand Fir/Mountain Maple Habitat Type in Central Idaho: Succession and Management

Description: Report presenting a taxonomic system for classifying plan succession in the grand fir/mountain maple habitat type in central Idaho. The system is based on a reconnaissance sample of 164 stands: 21 old-growth sites, 19 pairs of old-growth versus disturbance sites, and 105 additional disturbed sites. The Douglas-Fir/White Spirea Habitat Type in Central Idaho: Succession and Management

Description: Report presenting a taxonomic system for classifying plant succession in the Douglas Firs/White Spirea habitat area in central Idaho. Diagnostic keys based on indicator species assist field identification of the types. Discussion of management implications includes pocket gopher populations, success of planted and natural tree seedlings, big-game and livestock forage preferences, and responses of major shrub and herb layer species to disturbance.
