Description: There are many experimental elementary particle objectives which are uniquely achievable with polarized proton beams. Description: The Tritium System Test Assembly (TSTA), at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, is intended to demonstrate realistic fuel supply and cleanup scenarios for future fusion reactors. Theoretical approach for enhanced mass transfer effects in-duct flue gas desulfurization processes

Description: Bench-scale and pilot-scale experiments have been conducted to measure the mass transfer and kinetic rates at simulated duct injection conditions. Hydrogen adsorption on Ru(001) studied by Scanning TunnelingMicroscopy

Description: The adsorption of hydrogen on Ru(001) was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy at temperatures around 50 K. Hydrogen was found to adsorb dissociatively forming different ordered structures as a function of coverage. Hydrogen from Biomass for Urban Transportation

Description: The objective of this project was to develop a method, at the pilot scale, for the economical production of hydrogen from peanut shells. During the project period a pilot scale process, based on the bench scale process developed at NREL (National Renewable Energy Lab), was developed and successfully operated to produce hydrogen from peanut shells. CHARGE-EXCHANGE SCATTERING OF NEGATIVE PIONS BY HYDROGEN AT 230,260, 290, 317 AND 371 MeV

Description: The differential cross section for charge-exchange scattering of negative pions by hydrogen has been observed at 230, 260, 290, 317, and 371 Mev. The reaction was observed by detecting one gamma ray from the {pi}{sup 0} decay with a scintillation-counter telescope.

Waste management analysis for the nuclear fuel cycle: actinide recovery from combustible waste, October 1977-March 1978

Description: Evaluation of the Ce(IV)-NHO/sub 3/ system for recovery of actinides from incinerator ash is continuing. High-fired americium-traced plutonium oxide was completely solubilized in this system and recovery of actinides from incinerator ash was greater than or equal to 95%. Automated facility for analysis of soil samples by neutron activation, counting, and data control

Description: An automated facility remotely and automatically analyzes soil, water, and sediment samples for uranium. The samples travel through pneumatic tubes and switches to be first irradiated by neutrons and then counted for resulting neutron and gamma emission.
