Proton-induces and x-ray induced fluorescence analysis of scoliotic tissue

Description: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is characterized by a curvature or assymetry of the spine which may become progressively more severe, with clinical symptoms appearing just prior to, or during, puberty. The incidence for scoliosis in the age group from 12 to 14 years of age has been reported as high as 8 to 10%, with more than 80% of the cases occurring in females. Health effects in women exposed to low levels of ionizing radiation
