Materials evaluation for geothermal applications: turbine materials

Description: A number of candidate turbine materials are being evaluated for their resistance to erosion, corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in geothermal brines. These materials include Fe-, Ni-, Co and Ti-base alloys, coatings and ceramics. ZEOLITE CHARACTERIZATION TESTING

Description: The Savannah River Site isolates tritium from its process streams for eventual recycling. This is done by catalyzing the formation of tritiated water (from process streams) and then sorbing that water on a 3A zeolite (molsieve) bed. Stress Corrosion Cracking of Carbon Steel Weldments

Description: An experiment was conducted to investigate the role of weld residual stress on stress corrosion cracking in welded carbon steel plates prototypic to those used for nuclear waste storage tanks.
