Personal extrapolation of CDF test beam use to the SSC

Description: The author's personal experience in test beam usage at CDF is used to predict SSC needs at the point of turn-on. It is concluded that the test beam demand will reflect the scale of effort involved in SSC detectors rather than the total number of them. Provision for later expansion is recommended. Vacuum technology issues for the SSC (Superconducting Super Collider)

Collider detector beam line test table: a structural analysis

Description: The apparatus which sweeps calorimeter and endwall modules through the beam during testing is called a beam line test table. Because of rather stringent requirements for the physical positioning of the modules an analysis is done here to determine the modifications to the current test table design which will minimize deflections of the table under load.

The MERIT High-Power Target Experiment at the CERN PS.

Description: The MERIT experiment was designed as a proof-of-principle test of a target system based on a free mercury jet inside a 15-T solenoid that is capable of sustaining proton beam powers of up to 4 MW. Description: A darkbox and its transporter have been designed for T839 fiber tracking tests. Determination of the linear aperture of the SSC (Superconducting Supercollider) clustered lattice used for the conceptual design report

Description: A study is made of the linear aperture for the clustered lattice used for the SSC Conceptual Design Report. Random multipole errors are included in all magnetic elements including the insertion dipoles and quadrupoles. Aperture studies with Patricia and Racetrack on simple lattices containing SSC dipoles

Description: The PATRICIA and RACETRACK particle tracking programs have been compared by tracking on a simple lattice. The dynamic aperture was found to decrease as the number of passes through the lattice per run increased from 20 to approx. 300, and it remained constant for longer runs. Closed Orbit Distortion and the Beam-Beam Interaction

Description: We study the applicability of beam-beam deflection techniques as a tuning tool for the SLAC/LBL/LLNL B factory, PEP-II. Muon G-2 and Electric Dipole Moments in Storage Rings: Powerful Probes of Physics Beyond the Standard Model.

Description: We have shown that the study of dipole moments, both magnetic and electric, in storage rings offer unique opportunities in probing physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). Both methods use similar techniques (particle and spin precession in magnetic storage rings). We are currently investigating the systematic errors associated with the resonance electric dipole moment (EDM) method. So far it looks very promising.

Interaction region design for the electron-nucleon collider ENC at FAIR

Description: To facilitate studies of collisions between polarized electron and protons at {radical}s = 14 GeV; constructing an electron-nucleon collider at the FAIR facility has been proposed. This machine would collide the stored 15 GeV polarized proton beam in the HESR with a polarized 3.3 GeV electron beam circulating in an additional storage ring.
