Heavy Flavor Spectroscopy at the Tevatron

Description: The Tevatron experiments have each accumulated about 6 fb{sup -1} of good data since the start of Run II. This large dataset provides excellent opportunities for heavy flavor spectroscopy studies at the Tevatron. This article will cover the latest {Upsilon}(nS) polarization studies as well as exotic meson spectroscopy results.

Charmed meson spectroscopy

Description: In the two years since HQL02, the long sought j{sub {ell}} = 1/2 states have been observed. In the charmed non-strange sector, these states have the expected properties but, in the charmed strange sector, the states have masses below threshold for the otherwise dominant decay modes, allowing their observation in suppressed modes. Improved measurements of the masses and widths of the well established P-wave charm states have also been published.

Charmonium Spectroscopy (X,Y,Z) at the B Factories

Description: Since 2003 several states in the charmonium mass region were discovered. While in the conventional c{bar c} spectrum some states are missing, the number of states observed up to now is larger than empty spaces in the c{bar c} spectrum. This, together with other difficulties to explain observed states as a c{bar c} mesons triggered discussions on a possible exotic interpretations. In this proceedings we present current experimental status from B-factories of the so called X, Y and Z states.

Cham and Charmoniium Spectroscopy

Description: The last few years have seen a revival of interest in charm spectroscopy with more than a dozen new states being reported and hundreds of new theoretical investigations being published. The advent of the B-factories [1,2], with their large, charm-rich data samples, has proven crucial to the discovery and investigation of new charm hadron states, but other experiments have confirmed and complemented the B-factory observations. Much interest has been generated by several new states that do not ap… more

Charm and Charmonium Spectroscopy at the e+e- B-Factories

Description: Over the past few years, there has been a lot of progress in the areas of charm and charmonium spectroscopy, in large part due to the very large data samples being accumulated at the e{sup +}e{sup -} B-Factories. In this presentation I will focus on results in three areas: the X/Y/Z charmonium-candidate states, the D{sub sJ} charmed-strange mesons, and newly-discovered charmed baryons. Note the absence of a section on pentaquarks: all B-Factory searches for pentaquarks, charmed or otherwise, ha… more

Recent BaBar Results on Hadron Spectroscopy

Description: Recent results from on hadronic spectroscopy are presented, based on data collected by the BaBar experiment between 1999 and 2004. The properties of the recently discovered D*{sub sJ}(2317){sup +} and D{sub sJ}(2460){sup +} states are studied: resonance parameters and ratios of decay rates are measured from continuum e{sup +}e{sup -} production, and production rates are measured from B decays. A search for the D*{sub sJ}(2632){sup +} state whose observation has been recently reported by the SEL… more

Pentaquarks and New Hadron Spectroscopy at BaBar

Description: Recent results on the search for pentaquarks and on charmonium spectroscopy at BABAR are reviewed. The latter includes the observation of the puzzling new state X(3872) {yields} J/{psi} {pi}{sup +} {pi}{sup -} in B decays, and the searches for X(3872) in two-body B decays and initial state radiation events.

Charm Spectroscopy at BaBar

Description: We present a mini-review on charm spectroscopy at the BABAR experiment. We first report on the c{bar s} meson spectrum, and present precise measurements of the D{sub s1}(2536) meson as well as the properties of the many new states discovered since 2003 (D*{sub s0}(2317), D{sub s1}(2460), D*{sub sJ}(2860), and D{sub sJ}(2700) mesons). We then discuss about charmed baryons observed recently in the BABAR experiment: {Omega}{sub c}{sup 0} and {Omega}*{sub c}{sup 0} css baryons, {Lambda}{sub c}(2940… more

Recent results on B spectroscopy at the Tevatron

Description: The Tevatron collider at Fermilab provides a rich environment for B spectroscopy. Recently the first direct observation of the B{sub c} meson has reduced its mass uncertainty by two orders of magnitude. A search for {eta}{sub b} mesons provides the best limit on its production in p{bar p} colliders. In studies on orbitally excited B{sub d} mesons for the first time the narrow states could be separated from each other. The orbitally excited B{sub s} mesons have been observed for the first time. … more

Chamonium Spectroscopy at BaBar

Description: The charmonium-like states, Y(4260), Y(4350), produced via initial state radiation, as well as the X(3872), and Y(3940), produced in B meson decays from the BABAR B-factory are reviewed. These mesons do not seem consistent with conventional charmonium models, and several alternate hypotheses have been proposed to explain these new discoveries.

Hidden Charm Spectroscopy from Tevatron

Description: The observation of a narrow structure near the J/{psi}{phi} threshold in exclusive B{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}{phi} K{sup +} decays produced in p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV is reported. A signal of 19 {+-} 6(stat) {+-} 3(syst) events, with statistical significance of 5.0 standard deviations, is seen in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.0 fb{sup -1}, collected by the CDF II detector. The mass and natural width of the structure are determined to be m = 414… more

Here the author focuses on the recent developments on the study of D*{sub sJ}, observation of D{sup +} {yields} K{sup +} {pi}{sup 0}, D{sup 0} - {bar D}{sup 0} mixing in the doubly cabibbo-suppressed decays using D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup 0} and the measurement of the decay constants using the leptonic D decays.

Measurement of the K- pi+ S-wave system in D+ ---> K- pi+ pi+ decays from Fermilab E791

Description: A new approach to the analysis of three body decays is presented. Measurements of the S-wave K{pi} amplitude are made in independent ranges of invariant mass from threshold up to the upper kinematic limit in D{sup +} {yields} K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup +} decays. These are compared with results obtained from a fit where the S-wave is assumed to have {kappa} and K{sub 0}{sup +}(1430) resonances. Results are also compared with measurements of K{sup -} {pi}{sup +} elastic scattering. Contribution… more

D and B meson spectroscopy, new states, baryons at the Tevatron

Description: We review recent results in heavy quark hadron spectroscopy at the Tevatron. With increasing data samples, the Tevatron experiments start to uncover information on the spectroscopy of b-hadrons. Most important are the first observations of the narrow B**{sub s}{sup 0} as well as {Sigma}{sub b}{sup {+-}}, {Sigma}*{sub b}{sup {+-}} and {Xi}{sub b}{sup -} baryons. In addition we present updated results on the narrow B**{sup 0} and B{sub c} mesons.

Charm and Charmonium Spectroscopy at B-factories

Description: Since a few years, charm and charmonium spectroscopy has revived, both from experimental and theoretical point of views. Many new states have been discovered triggering numerous theoretical publications. The B-factories with their large enriched charm sample have played a leading role on the experimental side with the observation and study of most of the new states. Other experiments such as CLEO and CDF have also contributed. Classical hadron spectroscopy predicted some of these new states, bu… more
