Energy conservation potential of Portland cement particle size distribution control, Phase 2

Description: The main objectives of Phase 2 are to determine the feasibility of using cements with controlled particle size distributions (CPSD cements) in practical concrete applications, and to refine our estimates of the potential energy savings that may ensue from such use. The work in Phase 2 is divided into two main tasks, some parts of which will be carried out simultaneously: Task 1 will continue cement paste studies to optimize cement performance similar to those of Phase 1, but with particular emp… more

[Dupont SPR] technical report for April 1983 (excerpts)

Description: This is a technical report on the safety performance and radiation monitoring of the Savannah River Site. The report describes the radiation monitoring and doses of each section of the plant site (e.g. reactor areas, separation areas, etc.). Also, results from the dosimetry of the environment at and about the site are discussed. This discussion includes the amount of radiation that is released into the food chain, the underground environments, storage areas, and other areas of the Savannah Rive… more

[Experimental and theoretical plasma physics program]. [Final progress report, 1982--1983]

Description: In recent years, members of the Maryland Theory Group have made significant contributions to the national fusion theory programs, and, in many cases, these theoretical developments helped to interpret experimental results and to design new experimental programs. In the following, the authors summarize the technical progress in five major areas: (1) RF interaction with plasmas including wave propagation and RF heating, (2) spheromak formation, equilibrium, and stability; (3) stability of nonaxis… more

A geologic assessment of natural gas from tight gas sandstones in the San Juan Basin. Final report, June 1989--June 1991

Description: The authors conducted a detailed geologic appraisal, estimated gas in place and recoverable volumes, and evaluated the impact of technology improvements on potential Cretaceous (Pictured Cliffs, Chacra, Cliff House, Point Lookout and Dakota intervals) tight gas reserves of the San Juan Basin. This report summarizes the results of a disaggregated appraisal of the undeveloped San Juan tight gas resource in the context of current and near-term technology, project economics and market potential. A … more

[Hadroproduction of charmed and bottom mesons (Fermilab experiment E-653): Progress report, April 1, 1982--March 31, 1983]

Description: This progress report describes several projects that U of Oklahoma has participated in. The first is a muon background calculation from decay of charged pions and kaons, using ISR data at center of mass energies of 31 and 53 GeV. These calculations were compared with a number of different events. A copy of an agreement between Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and participants in experiment E-653 is enclosed. This experiment tags charm and beauty particles by observing their decay lengths. … more
