GENWPG : a WPG graphics file generator.

Description: This document explains how to use a utility that can plot x-y data and bar-charts, and generate a DrawPerfect WPG graphics file. The format of a sample input text file (using the default page style) is described, and the graphics file it generated was printed on an HP LaserJet IV and is attached. Also attached are output graphs that demonstrate additional page styles. This utility lets you quickly generate x-y graphs and bar-charts for inclusion in WordPerfect documents. R was written because n… more

MOVING INTERACTIVE THEMATIC MAPPING FROM MAINFRAME TO MINI: SOME DISIGN POSSIBILITIES AND DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE

Description: The analysis, interpretation and assimilation of geographically referenced data often requires that it be presented in the form of maps and other graphic displays. CARTE is a thematic mapping program which produces annotated choropleth, line or point-symbol displays of socio-economic, energy, or other data on a variety of interactive terminals or hardcopy plotters. CARTE is desigend primarily for interactive use and provides both simplicity for the novice and a wide range of options for the adv… more

Post-experimental plots for high speed data acquisition program

Description: The post-experimental plot program allows the user to obtain hard copy outputs for the data acquisition program. Both single channel and multiple channels can be plotted for the customer. Another feature is the telescopic plots of any section of the given data. In addition, the user has a choice of papers, 8.5 {times} 11 inch or 11 {times} 17 inch and the graphs may be rotated by 90 degrees. Before making a plot, the experimental curves can be displayed on the screen.

Circuit board routing attachment for Fermilab Gerber plotter

Description: A new and potentially important method of producing large circuit boards has been developed at Fermilab. A Gerber Flat Bed Plotter with an active area of 5' x 16' has been fitted with a machining head to produce a circuit board without the use of photography or chemicals. The modifications of the Gerber Plotter do not impair its use as a photoplotter or pen plotter, the machining head is merely exchanged with the standard attachments. The modifications to the program are minimal; this will be d… more

Using Python to Develop Graphical Interfaces to Scientific Data

Description: At Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Python has proven to be a convenient language for the development of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) which allow scientists to view, plot, and analyze scientific data. Two such applications are described in this paper. The first, EOSView, is a browser application for an equation of state data library at LLNL. EOSView is used by scientists throughout the laboratory who use simulation codes that access the data library, or who need equation of st… more

Applications of computer-generated perspective plots

Description: From 2nd AEC scientific computer information exchange meeting; New York, New York, USA (2 May 1974). Graphical output from a computer is easily interpreted. Perspective plots are presently the best way to communicate large amounts of information to man from the computer. A magnetic field was generated in the path of the accelerator beam and the shape of the magnetic field was plotted. The PICTURE program was also used to caiculate laser absorption on a material as a function of angle of inciden… more

A Python interface with Narcisse graphics

Description: Narcisse is a graphics package developed by our French colleagues at Centre d`Etudes de Limeil Valenton of the Commissariat d`Energie Atomique. Narcisse is quite comprehensive; it can do two-, three-, and four-dimensional plots (the latter meaning that the surface is colored according to the values of an arbitrary function). One can open and send plots to a Narcisse window on a distant machine. Narcisse has a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) which, once a graph has appeared, allows … more
