Collector sealants and breathing. Final Report, 25 September 1978-31 December 1979

Description: The objectives of this program were: (1) to investigate the pertinent properties of a variety of possible sealants for solar collectors and identify the most promising candidates, and (2) to study the effect of breathing in flat-plate, thermal solar collector units. Probabilistic aspects of meteorological and ozone regional ensemble forecasts

Description: This study investigates whether probabilistic ozone forecasts from an ensemble can be made with skill; i.e., high verification resolution and reliability. Twenty-eight ozone forecasts were generated over the Lower Fraser Valley, British Columbia, Canada, for the 5-day period 11-15 August 2004, and compared with 1-hour averaged measurements of ozone concentrations at five stations. A Kalman-filter bias correction of ozone deterministic, ensemble-averaged, and probabilistic forecasts

Description: Kalman filtering (KF) is used to postprocess numerical-model output to estimate systematic errors in surface ozone forecasts. It is implemented with a recursive algorithm that updates its estimate of future ozone-concentration bias by using past forecasts and observations. Possible variations in atmospheric ozone related to the eleven year solar cycle

Description: Changes in ozone and other minor constituents resulting from eleven year variations in the solar flux between 180 and 300 nm reported by Heath and Thekaekara (8) are presented. Description: Oil production is shifting from ''shallow'' wells (0-650 ft water depth) to off-shore, deep-water operations (>2,600 ft.). Production from these operations is now approaching 20%.
