Linear Algebras

Description: This paper is primarily concerned with the fundamental properties of a linear algebra of finite order over a field. A discussion of linear sets of finite order over a field is used as an introduction to these properties.

Birth Order and Parent-Child Relations

Description: The purpose of this study was to investigate the birth order differences in perception of parental child-rearing practices in one-and two-sibling families. The two-sibling families were separated into all the possible sex permutations (male-male, female-female, male-female, female-male) to assess the influence of sex of sibling in viewing the parents' child-rearing practices.

An Analysis of Bargaining Unit Determinations at Three Government Installations

Description: It was the purpose of this thesis (1) to examine and analyze criteria to be considered in appropriate unit determination; (2) to observe and analyze the unit determination experience, under Executive Order 10988, of three Government installations in the Supply and Maintenance Command, Department of the Army; and (3) to draw inferences, conclusions, and recommendations from the unit determination experience of these three installations.

Practical Calculation of Second-Order Supersonic Flow Past Nonlifting Bodies of Revolution

Description: "Calculation of second-order supersonic flow past bodies of revolution at zero angle of attack is described in detail, and reduced to routine computation. Use of an approximate tangency condition is shown to increase the accuracy for bodies with corners. Tables of basic functions and standard computing forms are presented. The procedure is summarized so that one can apply it without necessarily understanding the details of the theory" (p. 1).

Second-Order Slender-Body Theory: Axisymmetric Flow

Description: "Slender-body theory for subsonic and supersonic flow past bodies of revolution is extended to a second approximation. Methods are developed for handling the difficulties that arise at round ends. Comparison is made with experiment and with other theories for several simple shapes" (p. 1).

The effects of birth order and family size on children's locus of control

Description: The present study was concerned with investigating children's generalized locus of control of reinforcement and its possible relationship to the demographic variables of birth order and family size. The sample consisted of 93 school children in Grades 6, 7, and 8. The analysis of data was by a 2 x 3 factorial design.

The Effects of Group Membership upon Birth Order Differences in Anxiety and Affiliation

Description: The present study has a twofold purpose. First, it will attempt to ascertain whether ordinal position remains an effective discriminator of affiliative need and level of anxiety within the selective confines of a strong social organization, a college sorority; or whether the selective criterion of membership in the strong social organization tends to suppress the differences in affiliative need and level of anxiety between the ordinal positions. Secondly, it will attempt to further explore the relationship between affiliation and dependency.

A Catalog of Extinctions

Description: The preface describes the construction of a book-length, interwoven sequence of poems. This type of sequence differs from other types of poetry collections in its use of an overarching narrative, repeated images, and recurring characters. Three interwoven sequences are used as examples of how to construct such a sequence.
