Description: Photocopy of a letter from Jack Davis and Bill McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Dr. Vera Brooks-Ray. Describing the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts fifth year as a staff development program for the school districts and museums, and as such Davis and McCarter established an advisory board several years to serve the community as well as receive their input. Davis and McCarter continue, sharing their appreciation for Janice Wiggins and other teachers of the Dallas ISD as major components of their Institute, as well as how fortunate they are to have Jan Muhlert, Director of the Amon Carter Museum chair their board. Davis and McCarter explain how much they would like to have Brooks-Ray serve as a board member for the Institute as well. At the end of the letter Davis and McCarter ask Brooks-Ray to take their request into consideration and that the board will meet at the Amon Carter December 1 at 4 pm. The letter mentions a fact sheet being given to Brooks-Ray about current board members, fact sheet not present with letter. Copied on the letter is Jan Muhlert.

Description: Photocopy of a document from Bill McCarter, Co-Director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Beverly Fletcher. The document is separated into two sections, the first section being about Dr. Jack Davis, Provost of UNT and a major figure in Art Education having won many awards for his service to the discipline of art education along with Dr. Bill McCarter, Regents Professor at UNT. Both Davis and McCarter are co-directors of NTIEVA, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, an institute funding by matching grants from the Getty Center, Amon Carter Foundation and others. The second part of the letter is about their program, DBAE, the approach to art education by involve art specialists and classroom teachers in expanding art to include not only art production but critical thinking, judgement and other formalities. The hand-written note at the bottom reads, "Bev. we need overhead projector - thanks."

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter and Jack Davis, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Russ Chapman, Principal Lakewood Elementary. In regards Chapman being unable to attend either of the principal's sessions during the 1991 Summer Institute and that the institute was a real success due to the great measure of the contributions of the classroom teachers and art specialists, named as such, Marilyn Duncan, Laurie Bargsley and Pam Stephens. McCarter and Davis end the letter that each school teacher are to complete a plan for the DBAE implementation into their classrooms and that Chapman is to review the plan with his staff.

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Nancy Berry to Bill McCarter, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. Writing that she is cancelling her Research and Reading group so that she can work longer with the museum educators on the Art Education / Art History meeting and hopes that McCarter can set together an agenda on what she should accomplish. Second is that she's spoke with Irene Martin at the Thyssen asking if NTIEVA will allow her to translate parts of their book into Italian for the Lugano workshop, and allowing them to have the first fifty books for free and paying $5 for every book afterwards. Scribbled at the bottom reads, "How did San Antonio go?"

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter, Jack Davis and Nancy Reynolds, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Chad Woolery, Acting Superintendent of Dallas ISD. Stating their disappointment for the schedule conflict that prevents him from being able to participate in NTIEVA, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, 1993 Summer Institute Administrator's Day. As such they are inviting Woolery to participate in an Administrator's Day for Dallas I.S.D. at the Meadows Museum at SMU and then the new wing of the Dallas Museum of Art. Their primary goal is to introduce NTIEVA to the new directors of the museum and introduce them to the DISD administrators. McCarter, Davis and Reynolds would like Woolery to present a greeting during the introductions of the day, and are having Janice Wiggins working with his secretary to schedule a day for this event in allowance of other key administrators to attend.
