Description: A memo from Nancy Reynolds, project coordinator for North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Barry Wagner and Ron Huebner. The memo is in regards to the North Texas and Nebraska Teleworkshop. Lynda Alford, art supervisors, has given Reynolds dates for videotaping art specialists and the classrooms with the teachers and art specialists. [Letter from Jack Davis and Bill McCarter to Vera Brooks-Ray, November 11, 1992]

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Jack Davis and Bill McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Dr. Vera Brooks-Ray. Describing the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts fifth year as a staff development program for the school districts and museums, and as such Davis and McCarter established an advisory board several years to serve the community as well as receive their input. Davis and McCarter continue, sharing their appreciation for Janice Wiggins and other teachers of the Dallas ISD as major components of their Institute, as well as how fortunate they are to have Jan Muhlert, Director of the Amon Carter Museum chair their board. Davis and McCarter explain how much they would like to have Brooks-Ray serve as a board member for the Institute as well. At the end of the letter Davis and McCarter ask Brooks-Ray to take their request into consideration and that the board will meet at the Amon Carter December 1 at 4 pm. The letter mentions a fact sheet being given to Brooks-Ray about current board members, fact sheet not present with letter. Copied on the letter is Jan Muhlert.

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Charles C. Tandy, M.D., Dallas City Councilman to Bill McCarter, co-director of the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. Tandy thanks McCarter for the lunch tour and education as to what is happening at the University of North Texas. Tandy writes that he was impressed with the pursuit of the relationship of art to learning in elementary education, and assures McCarter that he will use his influence to enhance the opportunity to add Dallas into the institute.

On October 17, Reid will lead an art discussion with Art Sinks to motivation teachers and students to use art to write to the TAAS objectives. Reid writes that she will use "Chimney" to open her discussions here forward because how McCarter inspired her, she thanks him and the involvement NTIEVA has made on her.

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Nancy Cason, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Nicole Holland, InterCultura, in regards to their meeting and about the upcoming "Wanderers" exhibition and how NTIEVA might assist Institute K-1 teachers and art specialists in preparing their students for it. Description: Photocopy of a memorandum from Lynda Alford, Art Coordinator of Plano ISD, to H. Wayne Hendrick. In regards to Elementary art. Alford has given Hendrick an outlined suggestion for improving the elementary art program, based on research even the best staff development programs do not effect change unless there is follow up and continuous support, therefore their plans call for the addition of certified art teachers. Enclosed with the letter are abstracts about the improving the program. At the bottom of the cover page a scribbled note reads, "Jack, this is the packet that has been written for the board, Lynda."

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Nancy Reynolds, project coordinator of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Beverly Fletcher, Art Office of Fort Worth ISD. The letter is an enclosed summary of the evaluations from Fletcher's secondary institute. Reynolds writes that NTIEVA is excited about the positive results and are happy that they reflect the success of the Institute. Reynolds continues, wanting to let Fletcher know that the Ghost Ranch Spring Retreat idea has become reality, and that she'll send details in the upcoming newsletter. The retreat is for twenty adults for the nights of March 14 - 18 at Ghost Ranch Conference Center north of Aliquiu, New Mexico. Reynolds mentions that participants can go on to mini-seminars and excursions or just enjoy free time and relax. Attached to the letter is Fletcher's evaluation summary.

[Letter from Bill McCarter and Jack Davis to John Biggers, October 9, 1996]

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter and Jack Davis, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to John Biggers. In regards to a project which the NTIEVA initiated, that sought out high quality reproductions of work of at in five museums in the DFW area and that one of Bigger's painting, "Starry Clown" was selected for the portfolio. NTIEVA, with the Marcus Grant, produced 500 portfolios and each was placed at no cost in the elementary and secondary schools in the consortium of the Institute. McCarter and Davis write that the portfolio has been successful with teachers and students, that they received requests for additional portfolios, and are reaching out to Biggers to request the use of the image in commercial production of future portfolios.
