Description: Photocopy of a letter from Nancy Reynolds, Project Coordinator of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts to Museum Educations, in regards to the NTIEVA Newsletter. Reynolds requests of the museums educators, contributions for the newsletters: regular columns, details about an exhibit, education programs or guests speakers. Reynolds writes that they're trying to publish four newsletters a year so she would like their contributions or articles as soon as possible. [Letter from Charles C. Tandy to Bill McCarter, February 20, 1991]

Tandy thanks McCarter for the lunch tour and education as to what is happening at the University of North Texas. [Letter from Suzi Alost-Redit to Bill McCarter, October 9, 1995]

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Suzi Alost-Reid to Bill McCarter, writing about how much Reid loved McCarter's presentation, leading them to a higher level thinking and that the "Chimney and Water Tower" is more meaningful now that McCarter lead them through the analysis of its elements. On October 17, Reid will lead an art discussion with Art Sinks to motivation teachers and students to use art to write to the TAAS objectives. Reid writes that she will use "Chimney" to open her discussions here forward because how McCarter inspired her, she thanks him and the involvement NTIEVA has made on her.

Description: Photocopy of a memorandum from Lynda Alford, Art Coordinator of Plano ISD, to H. Wayne Hendrick. In regards to Elementary art. Alford has given Hendrick an outlined suggestion for improving the elementary art program, based on research even the best staff development programs do not effect change unless there is follow up and continuous support, therefore their plans call for the addition of certified art teachers. Enclosed with the letter are abstracts about the improving the program. At the bottom of the cover page a scribbled note reads, "Jack, this is the packet that has been written for the board, Lynda."

[Letter from Nancy Reynolds to Beverly Fletcher, August 12, 1992]

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Nancy Reynolds, project coordinator of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Beverly Fletcher, Art Office of Fort Worth ISD. The letter is an enclosed summary of the evaluations from Fletcher's secondary institute. Reynolds writes that NTIEVA is excited about the positive results and are happy that they reflect the success of the Institute. Reynolds continues, wanting to let Fletcher know that the Ghost Ranch Spring Retreat idea has become reality, and that she'll send details in the upcoming newsletter. The retreat is for twenty adults for the nights of March 14 - 18 at Ghost Ranch Conference Center north of Aliquiu, New Mexico. Reynolds mentions that participants can go on to mini-seminars and excursions or just enjoy free time and relax. Attached to the letter is Fletcher's evaluation summary.

[Letter from Bill McCarter and Jack Davis to John Biggers, October 9, 1996]

Description: Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter and Jack Davis, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to John Biggers. In regards to a project which the NTIEVA initiated, that sought out high quality reproductions of work of at in five museums in the DFW area and that one of Bigger's painting, "Starry Clown" was selected for the portfolio. NTIEVA, with the Marcus Grant, produced 500 portfolios and each was placed at no cost in the elementary and secondary schools in the consortium of the Institute. McCarter and Davis write that the portfolio has been successful with teachers and students, that they received requests for additional portfolios, and are reaching out to Biggers to request the use of the image in commercial production of future portfolios.

Description: Photocopy of a document from Bill McCarter, Co-Director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Beverly Fletcher. The document is separated into two sections, the first section being about Dr. Jack Davis, Provost of UNT and a major figure in Art Education having won many awards for his service to the discipline of art education along with Dr. Bill McCarter, Regents Professor at UNT. Both Davis and McCarter are co-directors of NTIEVA, North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, an institute funding by matching grants from the Getty Center, Amon Carter Foundation and others. The second part of the letter is about their program, DBAE, the approach to art education by involve art specialists and classroom teachers in expanding art to include not only art production but critical thinking, judgement and other formalities. The hand-written note at the bottom reads, "Bev. we need overhead projector - thanks."
