Flowchart-to-source-code conversion program for GPSS/360

Description: Thesis. An interactive program is descnibed which allows a user to specify a GPSS program as a block diagram. The user draws the block diagram using the Graphical Remote Access Support System (GRASS) and sends it to the remote computer where it is converted to an equivalent source program. He can then run the program, if desired, and have the output from GPSS routed back to the graphics terminal, selecting the portion for which hard copy is desired. The program is written in 360 Assembler Language. (auth)

Numerical image restoration by the method of singular-value decomposition

Description: BS>From seventh international conference on system sciences; Honolulu, Hawaii, USA (8 Jan 1974). The numerical image restoration problem is considered for the case of shift-variant imaging. The solution formalism presented is based on the method of singular-value decomposition. Some special-case versions of the formalism are considered. (auth)

Simple PDP15 interface for the Versatec serial printer

Description: An interface was developed to go between the PDP 15/30 computer and the Versatec printer/plotter, model 200A, operating in the serial print mode. The interface construction involved fabricating a cable with two twisted pairs for a signal and a control line, speeding up the clock in the existing foreground teletype controller and changing less than a dozen wires in it. The associated I/ O device handler allows the printer to be used as the listing device in the Digital Equipment Corporation Advanced Monitor Software System. With the handler, the printer is capable of printing 80 character lines at approximately 120 lines per minute. (auth)

''Ideal'' directly executed languages: an analytical argument for emulation

Description: Several methods of evaluating user programs are analyzed with respect to space and time requirements. The concept of an ideal'' directly executed language is introduced, and it is argued that the ideal'' directly executed language for a contemporary computing system will not be either its source language or the language accepted by its base machine. Batch system with rapid overlay capabilities

Description: A batch supervisor for a minicomputer has been written which provides rapid sequencinig between jobs. The supervisor can handle a small number of system programs, and also allows each system program to have a large number of overlays. Overlays are read into core rapidly, and the sequencing of overlays and job steps is very flexible. Finally, the supervisor is small, leaving most of the minicomputer's core storage to the system programs. (auth)
