This work, which is part of the ANL energy program for ERDA, is directed toward studies for the national endeavor on in situ coal gasification. The objective of this work is to determine the reaction-controlling variables and reaction kinetics for gasification of chars resulting when coal is pyrolyzed in underground gasification.
