Freezing Point Diagram and Liquid-Liquid Solubilities of the System Uranium Hexafluoride-Hydrogen Fluoride

Description: Abstract: "The complete freezing point diagram for the system uranium hexafluoride-hydrogen fluoride has been determined. In addition, liquid-liquid solubilities of these compounds have been measured up to the consolute temperature of 101 C. A miscibility gap starts at 61.2 C. over the compositions range 10 to 80 mole per cent uranium hexafluoride. The lowest melting point of this binary system under its own pressure, i.e. the eutectic, is -85 C."

Hydrogen Peroxide Analysis and Decomposition in Chromate Solutions

Description: Abstract: "A novel procedure employing ion exchange resins was developed to separate chromate ions from hydrogen peroxide, permitting, permitting the subsequent analysis of peroxide to determine its decomposition in sodium chromate solutions. At high pH's, peroxide was absorbed anionically on the ion exchange resins along with chromate. Total Cross Sections of Tritium, Hydrogen, and Helium for Fast Neutrons

Description: Abstract: "By using gaseous samples in neutron transmission experiments the total cross section of tritium has been measured over the energy region from 0.3 to 7.0 Mev and at the following additional energies: 14.1, 18.0, 19.1, and 20.0 Mev. A plot of cross section versus neutron energy shows a broad maximum with the greatest value of 2.5 barns at 3.7 Mev. Cross sections for helium were measured in the energy region from 1 to 3 Mev and for both hydrogen and helium at 14.1 Mev."

The Heat and Entropy of Ionization of Anhydrous Acetic Acid.

Description: Studies of ionic entropies in methanol and ammonia have led to the suggestion that ionic entropies in water are abnormally high. An explanation of this hypothesis may be given in terms of entropies of solvation and the high degree of hydrogen bonding in water. When an ion enters water, more disorder is created than when it enters another, less hydrogen-bonded, solvent.
