Description: Multiresolution methods provide a means for representing data at multiple levels of detail. They are typically based on a hierarchical data organization scheme and update rules needed for data value computation. Searching for optical transients in real-time : the RAPTOR experiment /.

Description: A rich, but relatively unexplored, region in optical astronomy is the study of transients with durations of less than a day. We describe a wide-field optical monitoring system, RAPTOR, which is designed to identify and make follow-up observations of optical transients in real-time. Research efforts at UC Davis have focused on establishing the thermodynamic properties of zirconolite and pyrochlore, and the synthesis of other minerals relevant to storage of nuclear material. Integrated X-ray and charged particle active pixel CMOS sensor arrays using an epitaxial silicon sensitive region

Description: Integrated CMOS Active Pixel Sensor (APS) arrays have been fabricated and tested using X-ray and electron sources. The 128 by 128 pixel arrays, designed in a standard 0.25 micron process, use a {approx}10 micron epitaxial silicon layer as a deep detection region. Quadrature Mixer LO Leakage Suppression Through Quadrature DC Bias

Description: A new concept has been developed which allows direct-to-RF conversion of digitally synthesized waveforms. The concept named Quadrature Error Corrected Digital Waveform Synthesis (QECDWS) employs quadrature amplitude and phase predistortion to the complex waveform to reduce the undesirable quadrature image. Analysis and Measurement of Cross Talk in a Superconducting Cavity.

Description: A superconducting cavity used in a microwave gun requires that the launcher and the pickup probes be on the same side of the cavity, which causes direct coupling between them, or crosstalk. At room temperature, the crosstalk causes serious distortion of the RF response. This note addresses the phenomenon, the simulation results and the analysis, so that one can extract the desired information from the confusing signal.

Description: Eddy current (EC) estimate of flaw size obtained from inservice inspection is often the primary means of assessing the structural integrity of steam generator tubes. Reduction of Ammonia and Tar in Pressurized Biomass Gasification

Description: The present paper intended to present the results of parametric study of the formation of ammonia and tar under pressurized gasification conditions. By the use of multivariate data analysis, the effects of operating parameters were determined and their influences could be quantified. In order to deal with cases in which high levels of ammonia and tar were produced, study of catalytic hot gas cleaning was performed, aiming to discuss the removal efficiency and test catalysts.
