Dynamic stress calculations for two airplanes in various gusts

Description: Report presenting a series of calculations made to determine the probable dynamic wing stress of two large airplanes in atmospheric gusts. The results indicate that in both isolated and repeated gusts of probable occurrence, the dynamic overstress is about 10 percent when referred to the present static design standard.

Tail-load measurements on the XB-15 bomber in gusty air

Description: Report presenting some statistical measurements of the accelerations encountered in gusty air over a period of years in order to determine the loads to which airplanes may be subjected. The statistical measurements have been evaluated to yield either effective or true gust velocities as applied to the wings of airplanes.
