Synthesis and Physical Properties of Environmentally Responsive Polymer Gels

Description: Polymer gels undergo the volume phase transition in response to an infinitesimal environmental change. This remarkable phenomenon results in many potential applications of polymer gels. This dissertation systematically investigates the chemical and physical properties of polymer gels. Temperature Dependency of Some of the Thermodynamical Properties of Aqueous Binary-Mixture Systems

Description: The temperature dependence of the refractive index and the density of aqueous binary mixtures of water and ethyl alcohol (C₂H₅OH) were measured by using a modified Michelson interferometer and a narrow glass capillary tube over the temperature range of 278≤T≤353 K for solutions of 100, 75,65, 50, 25, 10 and 0 volume percent ethyl alcohol. Ongoing Developments on Continuum Solvation Models

Description: This work explores a continuum representation for diffuse layer models, thereby endowing continuum embedding models the ability to capture electrostatic phenomena in the environment such as the existence of electrolyte ions, and the nature of ionic liquids. Quantum Coherent Control and Propagation in Lambda System

Description: Strong coherence in quasi-resonant laser driven system interferes with effective relaxations, resulting in behaviors like, coherent population trapping and Electromagnetically induced transparency.
