Capsule irradiation of uranium with low alloy additions

Description: Here is a more complete description of the capsule test we discussed in our initial contact in December. I have included as much detailed description of the test as has been decided on to date. Also, there are some factors which, from previous similar test, I have found to be pertinent to the successful charging and irradiation performance of the capsules. THE H-3 IRRADIATION EXPERIMENT: IRRADIATION OF EGCR GRAPHITE. Interim Report No. 1

Description: Electric Co. Hanford Atomic Products Operation, RichIrradiation experiments are being performed in the GETR to determine the long-term stability of EGCR graphite. The results of two experiments with a peak total exposure equivalent to 38,000 MWD/AT in the EGCR are available. This is approximately one half the expected lifetime exposure of the EGCR. The H-3-l and H-3-2 capsules contained samples of EGCR graphite and reference CSF graphite. Both capsules were identical and were irradiated sequent… more
