Utilization of coal-water fuels in fire-tube boilers

Description: This project is a demonstration for firing coal-water slurry in a fire-tube boiler. It includes design, installation, and demonstration of the slurry firing equipment in a fire-tube boiler at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The project will be funded by the US Department of Energy with cost sharing from Jim Walter Resources and the University of Alabama. Innovative approach to asbestos removal

Description: The most common asbestos materials used at the Savannah River site include: steam pipe insulation; powerhouse boiler insulation; wallboards; roofing materials; and cement products. Asbestos was also found in a number of other materials: aprons; gaskets; laboratory hot pads; and talcum powder used for gloves. Coal Technology Program. Progress report for November 1977

Description: A block of Pittsburgh seam bituminous coal and a block of Wyodak subbituminous coal were pyrolyzed under reducing gas in support of in situ gasification. Information from previously completed block pyrolysis of bituminous coal under an argon atmosphere show that differences in evolved gas result from differences in heating rates. Description: The stress analysis is presented for the proposed loop seal modification to the LOFT Steam Generator Main Feed Piping. Shippingport Atomic Power Station steam generator tube damage and water chemistry control (1965--1975)

Description: The four stainless steel tubed steam generators in the Shippingport Atomic Power Station were replaced in 1964 with larger, horizontal, NiCrFe Alloy 600 tubed units consistent with a power uprating of the plant.
