FUEL BURNUP STUDIES FOR A 225 Mwe ADVANCED SODIUM GRAPHITE REACTOR

Description: Reactivity and fuel burnup studies were performed for a 255 Mw(e) sodium- graphite reactor of the advanced calandria core type. This reactor is briefly described. Initial criticality calculations and flux distributions were obtained, using two-group theory for enrichments between 2.0 at.% U/sup 325/ and 4.0 at.% U235. PERFORMANCE OF HNPF PROTOTYPE FREE-SURFACE SODIUM PUMP

Description: A free-surface centrifugal pump, incorporating a hydraulic bearing running in sodium, was operated at the conditions required for service in the Hallam Power Reactor. After difficulties arising from inadequate shaft clearances were alleviated, the pump performed properly at a flow rate of 7200 gpm of 945 gas-cooled F sodium at 150-ft head. Results Hallam plant. Description: Concentrated sulfuric acid is regularly used to remove unsaturated hydrocarbon impurities from saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons. LEAKAGE CHARACTERISTICS OF OPENINGS FOR REACTOR HOUSING COMPONENTS

Description: Measurements were made of the air leakage rates through structural components that penetrate semicontainment reactor housing installations. Full- sized test specimens were sealed inside a 10-ft-diameter test sphere, and the leakage rate was measured as a function of pressure for pressure differentials of up to 25 in. of water. Separation of Transplutonium and Rare Earth Elements by Liquid-Liquid Extraction
