Wind-Tunnel Investigation of an N.A.C.A. 23012 Airfoil with a Slotted Flap and Three Types of Auxiliary Flap

Description: An investigation was made in the N.A.C.A. 7- by 10-foot wind tunnel to determine the aerodynamic section characteristics of an N.A.C.A. 23012 airfoil with a single main slotted flap equipped successively with auxiliary flaps of the plain, split, and slotted types. A test installation was used in which an airfoil of 7-foot span was mounted vertically between the upper and the lower sides of the closed test section so that two-dimensional flow was approximated" (p. 699).

Development of Outboard Nacelle for the XB-36 Airplane

Description: From Summary: "An investigation of two 1/14 scale model configurations of an outboard nacelle for the XB-36 airplane was made in the Langley two-dimensional low-turbulence tunnels over a range of airplane lift coefficients (C (sub L) = 0.409 to C(sub L) = 0.943) for three representative flow conditions. The purpose of the investigation was to develop a low-drag wing-nacelle pusher combination which incorporated an internal air-flow system. The present investigation has led to the development of… more

Free-jet performance of 16-inch ram-jet engine with several fuels

Description: Report presenting an investigation of several fuels in a 16-inch ramjet engine during a free-jet investigation of ramjet performance in a wind tunnel. The fuels used were gasoline, kerosene, blend of 50-percent gasoline and 50-percent propylene oxide, blend of 75-percent kerosene and 25-percent propylene oxide, and isopentane. Results regarding ranges of operation, combustion efficiencies, and weight and volume specific fuel consumptions obtained with various fuels.

Hyperfine Structure and Exchange Narrowing of Paramagnetic Resonance

Description: Discussion of electronic paramagnetic resonance for the free radical a, a-diphenyl β-picryl hydrazyl as observed by its effect on the transmission of microwaves through a TE {sub 01} cavity with a small amount of the free radical placed approximately on the axis of the cavity; the half-width of this resonance at half maximum absorption was 1.45 oersteds.

Application of Heavy Media Separation, Flotation and Carbonate Leaching to Congo Ores

Description: The investigation of magnesitic-dolomite uranium ores from Union Miniere du Haute Katanga, Belgian Congo, was undertaken in order to examine the possibility of separating the uranium minerals from the carbonate minerals by Heavy Media Separation or froth flotation; thus reducing the sulfuric acid consumption during the uranium leach. In addition, the effect of carbonate leaching the whole ore and carbonate flotation products was examined.
