Analyzing the Functional Interdependence of Verbal Behavior with Multiaxial Radar Charts

Description: This article extends the use of multidimensional analyses to compare the relative performance distributions of verbal behavior across four potential controlling variables. The authors discuss the use of radar charts as a framework for understanding the interdependence of verbal operants and suggest their use for complex analyses of complex verbal behavior.

Coding with the machines: machine-assisted coding of rare event data

Description: This article contributes to the discussion of validation of LLM classification showing that reliability varies greatly by prompt and temperature tuning, across subject areas and tasks-especially in "zero-shot" applications. The authors found that only GPT-4 approaches trained expert coders when coding contexts familiar to human coders and codes more consistently across contexts.

Machine-learning based approach to examine ecological processes influencing the diversity of riverine dissolved organic matter composition

Description: The authors of this article propose the use of machine learning approaches to identify ecological processes contributing toward mixtures of DOM at a continental-scale. The authors' data-driven approach can now be used more generally to reveal the interplay between physical, chemical, and biological factors in determining the diversity of DOM in other ecosystems.

On an Aggregated Estimate for Human Mobility Regularities through Movement Trends and Population Density

Description: This article introduces an analytical framework that interprets individual measures of entropy-based mobility derived from mobile phone data. The authors provide an effective population density estimate that offers a more realistic understanding of social interactions.

Changes to business faculty perceived skills with online teaching tools and educational practices: The pandemic effect

Description: The authors of this article pose a case-based, qualitative study explores the perceived skill level changes of professors who implemented (with minimal training) online educational technologies to deliver business courses at a business school in the southwest United States. Study outcomes indicate that instructors’ perceived skill sets in most topics grew due to the adoption of online educational technologies at the onset of the pandemic.
